Last night I had a nice relaxing evening sketching at my local coffee shop.
Shortly after I sat down I started sketching a little girl (about 7 years old) who was there with her dad. She was watching me sketch and several times she said "That's beautiful" with a big smile on her face.
As soon as I got to drawing her hair (which was long & curly - very distinct) she realized that I was drawing her and she grinned and said "That's me!"
"Yep, it is." I said smiling back at her. I finished it up and asked her if she would like to take it home. She nodded enthusiastically with a giant smile plastered on her face. I asked her to spell her name for me and as she did I wrote it next to the drawing of her.
M-E-L-A-N-I-E and then I dotted the "I" with a little heart and signed it.
I ripped it out and gave it to her. She was thrilled and her dad thanked me.
I spent the rest of my time working on the page you see here.
And that's my truth.
